On Your Mark! Get Set! Get Running!!!!

We are only 4 days in to a new year, and I don’t know about you, but I feel like 2013 is going to be a great one!

It is weird how we always look at the first of January as a new start - a fresh slate going forward! Making resolutions we will likely break in a week…or heck, the same day for that matter! Last year I made myself some goals, and for the most part stuck to them! A couple items that were on my list for 2012 were: get healthy ~ lost 36lbs and run a 5k race ~ which I ended up over the course of the year doing 5!

Although, I found that about the time that OVM came to be, I became obsessed with it, and lost my running ambitions. Always making excuses and not making the time for myself! After doing 3 of the 5k races, I decided to sign up for a 10k race on my birthday in October….needless to say, it ended up being a 5k, and the 10k didn’t happen.

So this year, one of my resolutions is to manage my time better! Make the time for myself again and get back running! So, that being said, I have signed up for the Ottawa Race Weekend 10k!! It takes place Saturday, May 25th at 6:30pm downtown Ottawa! That’s right…a 10k! And….I am basically starting my running training over from the beginning because I have been away from it for so long! So this gives me now about 20 weeks to get ready and kick this 10k in the….butt! ;) I also have some added motivation, I am standing as a bridesmaid in my Brother’s wedding at the beginning of May, and the running can only help me feel better about myself for that too!

So that being said, I have started my New Year off on the right foot and feeling motivated! If anyone else would like to join me in this journey, I always welcome the company! ;) Sign up too, and we can do this together! Erin has signed up too, so you can join us both on this journey! I will be checking in from time to time to tell how my progress is going, and be sure to ask me about it too! Having you all know and be aware will keep me more accountable too! Also welcome any tips, tricks or advice you have!
