About Essence Catering
Essence Catering started in 2007, in the city of Ottawa’s Hintonburg neighbourhood. It has evolved into Ottawa’s fine food, favorite catering services company by connaisseurs and foodies alike.
A Cordon Bleu graduate, Chef Jason Laurin has spent over 18 years creating, cooking and talking (and boy, can he talk!) about his passion, all things food. His creations are a part of him and his experiences are found in his food.
With it’s ability to produce perfectly executed and luxuriously presented dishes and bites, Essence Catering flourishes through it’s reputation and clients can’t get enough of the delicious dining experience. We foster a great professional working relationship with all our clients, which we proudly serve season over season, and year over year.

I would actually give this prize to my husband. Cooking and music are his passions! Although he has no formal training he can chef up some of the most spectacular meals you have ever tasted … but he still wants some training and learn some of the real techniques from real chefs … instead of cooking shows and cook books.
One of my favourite meals that my sweetheart cooks for me is steak in a red wine reduction sauce with shitake mushrooms, twice baked potatoes, and creamed spinach … one of his many meals to die for!
Getting into the kitchen with a trained chef (de Cordon Bleu no less!) would be a phenomenal way to spend an afternoon. I enjoy cooking and baking and feel proud to be able to make home made food for my family. My husband’s favourite dish that I make is an incredibly simple (yaya!) garlic prawns in EVOO with a hit if crushed hot peppers over spaghetti.
My fiancee is a sauce monster. His favourite meals are those that are thoroughly covered with sauce. One of our favourite meals to cook is pasta, with whatever vegetables and meat we find in the fridge, and a homemade cream sauce made of white wine, chicken broth and cream (or almond milk to make it dairy-free). We would LOVE to win this contest and fine-tune our cooking skills!
I have a hard time making a really good roast of beef – I would love to learn some tricks.
CONGRATS MELODY! You have won the cooking class with Essence Catering
Can you please e-mail me at info (at) ottawavalleymoms.com so that I can hook you up with Essence Catering? Thanks! Erin
Congrats Melody! See you on Sunday!
One of my favorite dishes to cook is a bacon wrapped prok tenerderloin fillets with a feta pate, absolutly devine! I just showed the menu to my husband and he is really hoping I will have the opportunity to make that for him on the 14th. Well worth the 2 hour drive to Ottawa to learn from a Cordon Bleu Chef!!!
Liked on FB! I love cooking steak for my husband, he’s a real red meat lover!
Hello! I love to cook with my husband. We have been trying out some new veggie dishes lately as sides. Our favourite is mashed ginger sweet potatoes and we also love sautéed kale with onions. We are looking for some gourmet ideas to give us more options as we love to cook together and of course eat!
I love cooking spicy food for my partner! We really don’t have the same taste when it comes to food, so it’s always a challenge… I WANT TO WIN! lol
I love to cook and always like to learn more.
Love to cook with anyone really! Our favorite to cook together is game meat since we are both hunters!
This is so great, thanks OVM and Essence Catering for providing this. I am sure it is going to be a special way of spending a Sunday afternoon. Never too old to learn new tricks for sure.
