Team CanCervive Pub Night for “Light The Night Ottawa”

My step sister Kim was diagnosed with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma a few years ago, and has been fighting the fight against cancer ever since. Most recently, she had to undergo a bone marrow transplant this past winter.  Now, more than six months post-transplant Kim is feeling better each and every day and her doctors are very happy with her recovery!  She still has a long  journey ahead of her but so far so good, and she is one of the most optimistic people I know! :)

Three years ago Kim formed a team in the first “Light the Night” 5k walk in Ottawa. I joined Team CanCervive to walk in support of Kim then, and again last year. This year, the third year, our team, Team CanCervive is set to walk the 5k again in downtown Ottawa on Saturday October 13th. Last year in an attempt to raise some funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, Kim’s sister in law organized a ‘pub night’ in Kim’s honour as she was too ill to undertake this big fundraising task herself.

This year, since Kim is feeling much better, she has organized a great pub night in Kanata! So if you are looking for something to do on Saturday September 29th, and want to donate to a great cause, this is it!! The Burbs Pub & Eatery (501 Hazeldean road, Kanata) has graciously stepped up to host, starting at 7 PM!

A $5 entrance fee will get you a complimentary raffle ticket and a little something to express gratitude for your support! Once in you can check out the prizes Team CanCervive will be raffling off, buy some tickets, hang out with family and friends, and have something to eat and drink! Some of the amazing prized being raffled off are some Ottawa Senator tickets, restaurant gift certificates, professional photographs and a gift basket from Canadian Living valued at $250 among other things!!!

When: Saturday September 29th, 2012 starting at 7pm

Where: The Burbs Pub and Eatery (501 Hazeldean Road, Kanata ON)

For: Team CanCervive’s funraising efforts towards Light the Night Ottawa

Cost: $5 entry fee

    The world is such a small place when you think of it, and the fight against cancer touches us all. Amazing that your family participates in the Light the Night, and as you know so does ours. I truly wish your sister continued progress in her fight - this illness has taken too many loved ones already. Good luck with your event this evening.

    Hello Story very inspiring I used to be "in the industry" but now a Realtor in Ottawa West. I have a new Program Im launching"Silver Lining Program" to financially help families fighting cancer . Always a huge juggle to rase a fmily, keep a job and maintain treatment I would love to reach out and see who needs help.
